  1. I know of a missionary who worked with Muslims in both Africa and France. His assessment of Islam is largely the same as your’s, but he also noted how the first generation of Muslims in France practiced a far more quiet and non-violent faith compared to younger generations. His conclusion was that the feelings of not being accepted by mainstream French society was what drove many in the younger generation to extremism (although he contends that extremists should really be called purists).

    I would just say that even if Islam is violent at its core, that leaves no reason to shun Muslims and make them feel unwelcomed. If anything, that will just create more terrorists out of them. Honestly though, I feel that many Evangelicals have only said things which make them seem unwelcoming to Islam such as proclaiming how Islam is a threat to the security and freedom of Western civilization.

    I don’t think it is an either/or situation. We can attempt to understand Islamic theology at its basic levels and at the same time be loving to them in Christ. So I agree.
