Editor’s Note

A housekeeping note: most likely, unless I post a re-post, my forthcoming posts for the foreseeable future will be shorter than normal. I am still going through some heavy spiritual battle, that is also producing heavy mental anguish, and so that has been affecting my output here, as well as in other areas of life. For that I would appreciate continued prayer, that the Lord would see fit to release me from this current struggle, and provide that type of “new day” for me in Him. Anyway, that’s what you can expect for the near future. Shorter posts that attempt to present some sort of summative theme on a particular issue relating to theology or biblical interpretation. I hope to be back full steam sooner than later, but as always, I’ve gotta keep feeding the blog; indeed, it is part of keeping me sane.

  1. Dr. Grow – I have immensely benefited from your work on this blog. I believe the Lord has used and will continue to use you greatly for the sake of His Church. I pray God would bring you through this period, and that in the midst of your suffering you would be further united to the Man of suffering.

  2. @Anon., thank you so much that is totally encouraging to hear! Thank you for the prayers, they are desperately needed. I look to the Man of suffering indeed; at this point I am ready to experience the resurrection side :).

  3. Yes Bobby, the Lord has blessed me immeasurably through your research butressed by prayer, even when the retort stings. Moreover your candid cries to our Lord for mercy strike close to home. We are standing with you and our loving Lord. He Is and will be glorified, and you will be blessed! Amen 🙏

  4. Duane, thank you, that is so encouraging! You’ve been with me for a long long time, from the early days of the blogosphere. Your word of hope is what I need to hear, and what I grab onto. Whenever someone gives me that word right now I take it as if the Lord is speaking directly through them (you). So thank you!

  5. Praying with you Bobby. Psalms 131 – I Have Calmed and Quieted My Soul

    A Song of Ascents. Of David.
    1O LORD, my heart is not lifted up;
    my eyes are not raised too high;
    I do not occupy myself with things
    too great and too marvelous for me.
    2But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
    like a weaned child with its mother;
    like a weaned child is my soul within me.

    3O Israel, hope in the LORD
    from this time forth and forevermore.

  6. When I come through this, Lord willing sooner than later! (please Lord, come quickly!), I am going to write a tribute post to all of you Barnabases! You are blessing and encouraging me; I will never forget it! You are bearing my burden when you’re able, and I’d like to do the same for you when I am. Thank you for being the body of Christ for me, even if through the ethernet.

  7. Dear Dr. Grow, I went through moments of great spiritual crisis, I cannot say “just like you”, because each one goes through these moments in a very particular and individual way. Count on my constant prayers. Her blog is a beacon of light, wisdom, and hope.
    God bless you.

  9. I’m sorry to hear about your struggles, Bobby. You’ll definitely be in my prayers. The fact that you’re bright AND compassionate AND no stranger to suffering makes you a logical target for the enemy. I pray for a brighter day for you very soon. Eric P.S. Congrats of your PhD!!!
