God Speaks, but Only Through Men in Christ

It’s better to know God in the way that He has deigned to be known. He has freely chosen to be known through men’s (Prophets and Apostles) voices, and not His voice directly (like audibly per se). Even as He came to us in the Son, He came as a human being; the human being par excellence. But still, He accommodates to speak to us, to reveal Himself to us, in a man’s voice, a human’s voice; albeit the Godman’s voice. The person we finally encounter in the Man, Christ Jesus’ voice, is the person of the triune God; nevertheless, He is speaking to us in a way that we can grasp, in our human tongue. This is His grace for us, that He has freely chosen to speak to us, and to do so in the ‘tongues’ that we could comprehend; in the Man, the Mediator between God and humanity, the Man, Christ Jesus! Amen.

  1. Amen!… and emet.

I was initially overwhelmed, but then realized the Spirit’s affirmation through it… I’ve been thinking /reflecting/ considering Scripture on precisely this very concept for the past several days, Bobby… (for what it may suggest).

  2. While I do appreciate your more “in depth” posts (for their theological content, challenge, and instruction) I’m enjoying and continue to be edified and learn from the recent shorter posts, Bobby. Thank you, for your faithful labor for and to us …in the love of Christ.

  3. As we come to reflect on the common theme of tomorrow’s National Holiday, Thanksgiving, I pray we may also, as a people, come to acknowledge the true and living God who is the source of all blessing. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
